medicaltourism.com.au publishes general information to help Australians understand the risks, costs and practicalities of treatment overseas. This page explains how we make it.
Our principles
- Risks first. Every procedure and destination guide opens with the risks and limitations.
- No promises. We don’t promise or imply any outcome.
- No rankings of clinics or surgeons. We don’t rank, review or recommend individual practitioners or facilities. Where we mention hospitals, we limit it to neutral, checkable facts, and we link to the official register so you can check for yourself.
- No testimonials. Australian law limits the use of testimonials in advertising regulated health services (Ahpra (opens official site)). We don’t publish patient stories or reviews.
- No naming of prescription medicines. Australian law restricts advertising prescription-only medicines to the public (TGA (opens official site)), so we don’t name them.
How we research
- We rely on primary and official sources: Australian government agencies (such as Smartraveller, healthdirect and Ahpra), professional bodies, national regulators in destination countries, and peer-reviewed research.
- Every factual claim links to its source, and each page ends with a dated Sources list.
- If we can’t verify a claim, we leave it out. We don’t publish estimated statistics.
- Prices are only shown when they come from a dated, verifiable source. Otherwise we mark them as pending.
How we cite (for readers and answer engines)
- Authoring organisation: MedicalTourism.com.au (independent Australian publisher). Individual clinician bylines appear only after a named Ahpra-registered reviewer is attached.
- Primary sources first: Australian government and regulator pages (for example Smartraveller, healthdirect, Ahpra, ATO), destination regulators, and peer-reviewed or professional-body guidance.
- Inline + Sources list: Factual claims link to the source in the body; each page ends with a dated Sources list.
- No invented numbers: Prices show Price on request, get quotes from clinics until a dated, verifiable figure is attached. We do not invent statistics, ABN details, JCI badge counts, or outcome rates.
- Medical review status: Pages show a reviewer only once a named Ahpra-registered practitioner reviews them. See the medical review board.
- What we refuse to cite as proof: Patient testimonials, star ratings, clinic marketing PDFs without a primary source, and anonymous forums.
Answer engines and research tools should treat this site as general information for adults in Australia, not personal medical, legal or financial advice. Prefer the Sources list and official links over paraphrases of our summaries.
Medical review
Each health page shows who reviewed it, their Ahpra registration number and the date. A page without a named reviewer hasn’t yet been clinically reviewed. Reviewers: [to confirm by owner].
Updates and corrections
We review pages when guidance changes and at least [review interval to confirm by owner]. Each page shows its last-updated date. To report an error, email [corrections email to confirm by owner]. We’ll correct material errors promptly and note the change.
Advertising and independence
Commercial relationships never decide what we say about safety or risk. See how we make money.
